To obtain a license for your dog:  Send proof of current rabies vaccination, a self-addressed, postage paid envelope and a check or money order payable to:

Wisconsin State Statutes mandate that the owner of a dog more than 5 months of age on January 1st, or 5 months of age within this year, shall obtain a license prior to April 1st or on or before the date the dog becomes 5 months of age.

NOTE:  Failure to comply with the mandate to license your dog(s) on time will result in additional fees and potential fines.  Late fees/fines ($5.00 per dog) are assessed beginning April 1st.

If you have questions about dog licensing in Hamburg, please contact the Town Treasurer at 715-409-6960.

If you no longer have a dog that was licensed in the town last year, please  call the Town Treasurer to have the dog removed from the records.

KENNEL OWNERS: $50 for up to 12 dogs. $5.00 each additional dog.

Town of Hamburg Ordinance, Marathon County ordinances and State Statutes say the following:

1. No dogs may run at large (must be on owner’s property).

2. Owners are liable for any damage that their dogs cause.

3. Frequent or habitual howling, barking or yelping is not allowed.

We all know that dogs sometimes get out, but you need to do everything in your power to recover them immediately and ensure that it does not happen again. All complaints will be handled by the Marathon County Sheriff. The Town Board is also available to help recover any missing dogs.
